Art: Glee, Sharp Dressed Woman, G

[livejournal.com profile] rrrowr wrote this delightful story where Santana visits Dalton, and following in Kurt's (unsubtle) footsteps, wears a Dalton uniform. Except, of course, she knows how to enjoy the hell out of it :D The image wouldn't leave my head, so...

Title: Sharp Dressed Woman
Fandom: Glee
Rating: G
Character: Santana Lopez

Title/cut-tag stolen and gender-switched for my convenience from ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man"

On a related note: Anyone know any general Glee comms where I can crosspost my art? I don't think [livejournal.com profile] gleefic takes art, does it?

CREEPY CONCRIT ANON IN DA HOUSE

This is reeeeaally pretty and you're obviously talented but I do think that Santana's face should have a little more delicate shape. Her chin is a little too strong to really look like Naya Rivera. She looks more like a male!Santana(Santanos? :D) than actual show!Santana, which might be what you're going for and in that case I'm sorry aahhaha. I really think that you nailed the upper part of her face(her eyes, her eyebrows etc) tho. And her expression is totally in character! :D

You could also have worked a little more on her clothes to make them more realistic. Mostly her pants cos her blazer looks nice :D. Her slacks should actually be kind of baggy but they look more like jodphurs except that Santanas legs should look skinnier if the slacks were tight so it just looks a little weird.

The soft way you shadowed her slacks also doesn't really mesh well with the really crisp shadowing of the blazer. I suggest that you stick with the blazer+skin!shadowing since it fits your style better and it looks much nicer. c:

Sorry for being a creepy creepy concrit!anon. It's like 11.17 pm in Sweden right now so this probably doesn't make much sense urgh sorryyyyy DDDDD:

Haha, you know, you don't actually need to be anon for this, constructive criticism is always welcome and it's not creepy. It's helpful to have people point out what worked and what didn't. Plus all your points are totally valid :)

I have in the past kind of fallen into accidentally making female faces a little too masculine (and vice versa) and sadly, it seems to have continued here. Will keep in mind for next time.

You caught me on the pants. It was laziness combined with a last minute fix because her legs looked too small for her upper body in the first version and I was really eager to post and I kind of raced into resizing it and doing some very slapdash shading instead of paying as much attention as I did to the blazer.

I'm glad you think it's pretty and her expression works though :)
