Haha, Rodney hiding behind Teyla is awesome! That is way too cute! I love how you capture these little random moments in time for the team. SO cool! Thank you!!!

Thank you so much :) I love drawing random moments, my way of conveying gen fluff in lieu of any writing skills :D

LOL! I see Rodney is hiding behind Teyla!

[identity profile] ileliberte.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, I don't think he cares for a dunking from the other two :D

Oh wonderful!

I love Teyla's face and Ronon's soggy hair. Rodney hiding is good, and you just *know* John's going to start a Splash Fight.

/grin

This is very fun, thank you!

And here I was thinking that Rodney was holding Teyla for the others to get their revenge on.
Because you know she's one sneaky little ninja who loves taking the guy's feet out from under them. Heh heh heh.
Awesomecakes.

Heh, I think Rodney's more scared of what those two are upto than helping them gang up on Teyla, I'm pretty sure he doesn't want a dunking :D thank you!

Looks really good. The water effect is great, and their postures are so dynamic. How you can draw like that on a graphic tablet is beyond me... I've tried drawing with my Wacom, but I have zero control of the line on that thing - might as well draw left-handed.

[identity profile] ileliberte.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you :)

The first time I tried a tablet, it was horrible. The cursor was all over the screen and I could never go back to my original point of leaving off unless I dragged the pen, which, of course, was kind of counter-productive. It was more of a matter of size though, I got the 6x8 tablet and fiddled around with the sensitivity and it made the process more like using paper and pen, and I mapped it to fit the whole screen so there were no corrsepondence mismatches to worry about either. I guess maybe practice is all you need if you really want to go the way of digital drawing. I like your pencil work though and your watercoloring is wonderful, although I guess scanning can become rather tedious.

No, scanning isn't a problem, my scanner is fast. And I'm definitely not moving away from pencil/ink/watercolor, because I love working that way. I mostly want to use the Wacom for fixing details of my traditional, scanned artwork. It would come really handy if I could add bits to the artwork here and there, like when I edit out parts of the original drawing.

But hey, I'm making progress. For this icon here I added Shep's shoulder, plus lots of black lines in the background (which was just a screencap and clashed too much with my painted Sheppard) and it wasn't overly awkward. But it only works in this tiny size; the original still looks pretty scratchy.

fiddled around with the sensitivity

That's one thing, mine doesn't seem to register sensitivity... maybe it can do that and I'm just missing something. No matter how much pressure I apply, the line always remains the same so it's useless for more intricate work (even if I were able to draw a straight line ;)

[identity profile] ileliberte.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
About the sensitivity part, my apologies if I'm just stating the obvious, but there are two places where you can fix that, did you check both? One's on the tablet settings itself, of course, but also, in Photoshop, when you have the Brush tool selected, there are settings for it that appear on the menu/toolbar. Under that, there's an option called shape dynamics. If you don't have that checked, you won't get any variation in line width or lightness even if you're using the tablet.

Oh! I'd been mostly trying with Paint Shop Pro (because that program is much faster and I'm used to it) but I just tried it in Photoshop and, yay. Could've sworn it hadn't worked when I tried before but, yay! That's excellent!

my apologies if I'm just stating the obvious

(Sadly, there is no obvious when it comes to me and Photoshop...)

[identity profile] ileliberte.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, well, feel free to ask if you have questions about Photoshop stuff. I'm not necessarily an expert, but still might be able to help out. That option's usually checked on by default, maybe there was a minor hiccup the last time you tried it. I've never used paint shop pro, but there might be something similar to the photoshop thing on psp as well, or it might be under the general preferences option since pressure sensitivity should be able to be turned on or off.

Dude, wet hair! And I love the way Ronon's hand is dripping and Rodney's looking at him like he knows Ronon's going to take him down any second now, with or without Teyla's vague attempts to fend him off.

I just love the way your drawings always tell a story.

Thank you so much. You know, I have this desire to write fic, except that I can't write so this is, I guess, my way of telling a story with means I can control :)

oh, TEAM. ♥ them to itty bitty pieces. Rodney, I hate to say this, but hiding behind Teyla will not do much when you're faced by Shep and Ronon.

[identity profile] ileliberte.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, well, at least it'll give him a few moments of reprieve and Sheppard and Ronon will probably be a little careful since, you know, in the water, feet can inadvertently hit inconvenient manly places XD
Thank you :)

Oh, this is lovely! haha! Rodney hiding behind Teyla while he glares at Ronon is priceless! I wonder what he said to the big guy to get that reaction? I like the water effect near Teyla's hand... we all know Shep is going to go *splash* at her any instance!

[identity profile] ileliberte.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much! I feel like Rodney got into the water only after a lot of wheedling, he's probably making sure he doesn't get a mischievous dunking :D

I could just see John throwing Rodney into the water, then Teyla throwing John in, only to have Ronon grab her and take both of them in. It loks like Ronon is getting ready to dunk Rodney while John and Teyla are having a splash fight. Absolutely wonderful picture, it tells such a fun story without a single word!

I'm certain it happened exactly like that :D Thank you so much!
