Stuff, yuletart, and yet more stuff

• The state of me is mediumish, tending towards mostly fine. Work's ok and there's a spot of freelance design stuff here and there, but the really cool, big illustration project I thought I'd be working on, fell through unfortunately. So hey, if you're looking for a freelance illustrator with reasonable rates and a winning personality... :D (<-- that's me pimping myself out, jsyk)

• yuletart reveals are up. Mine was a Due South piece with Fraser and Ray (Kowalski) and was posted here.

• I'm almost finished with the wee Sam and Dean in Halloween costumes picture, and I already have another Glee picture in my head. With Mercedes this time, because Kurt and Mercedes deserve more BFFness than canon's delivering. And because Kurt and Mercedes being totally unimpressed by their boyfriends being distracted because they're too busy arguing over football and sharing frowns in stereo is an image that amuses me.

• Paid LJ account users, do you know of any coupons/discounts like last year? I managed to get a year's paid time for less than $10 then from a coupon someone sent me, but the year's almost up and any info on a discounted price would be helpful :)

• I changed my first diaper. I am both proud of myself for not being a total wuss and grateful that it isn't something I have to do often. I love my nephew, but I prefer the coddling and playing to the more unpleasant adult care-taking things that people have to do with their toddlers.

• Must see if people are up for another round of trekreversebang.

• I feel like every time I finally get completely used to writing the year in dates, a new one comes by and messes it up...

I've escaped any diapers so far with my niece. I offered my brother to babysit, but I think they don't quite trust my childminding expertise (or rather non-expertise) to ensure the continued well-being of their offspring even over short time periods...

Haha, when I told my sister my travel plans, the first thing she asked me was "Would you be ok staying home and babysitting A for a few hours so that we can go have a rare couples night out?" XD No labor cheaper or more convenient than a sister apparently.

And the diaper was totally unavoidable, a just woken up and groggy toddler with damp clothes plus my sister on the phone about some important financial stuff meant that I would have to be the suckiest aunt ever if I tried to pawn him off on her instead of getting him into dry stuff right away. Thankfully that was it for the non-fun parts of adult duty.

IIRC my brother and his wife have some sort of arrangement with their upstairs neighbors who have a kid roughly the same age as my niece (I think a few months older).

You are braver than I. I have never changed a diaper; in fact, if you left me alone with a child who wasn't yet toilet-trained my first impulse would probably be to take them outside and have them poop on the grass. Or hold them over a litter box.

Heh, I don't think my style's ever a mystery. Except maybe if I do a manip, but even those are G rated crack, so maybe not even manips hide my style. I'm glad you liked it though!

I love kids, I get along well with them, they get along well with me, I just wish they all came fully toilet trained. Thankfully did not have to face any poopy diapers, it was a relatively non-scary one that I changed. Seriously, how do people younger than me have kids? I feel so ridiculously immature any time I have to think about doing more than just the standard reading/playing/cuddling stuff. Maybe feeding and putting on shoes at my most responsible. No wonder kids of my own are not in my immediate future.

Yes. Yes they do. But with the way they've been treating Mercedes's character lately I'm afraid she'd end up eating him. :( Stupid writers. And oh, that picture sounds so adorable! ♥

And echoing the "you are far braver than me for dealing with poop" sentiment. I kinda wish kids didn't develop unpleasant bodily functions until they're older and less cute.

Ugh yes. In my headcanon, the only things that exist in that episode are the adorable group number, Mike's dancing, the freaky death threat and...that's about it. Kurt being a really crappy friend to Mercedes and Mercedes somehow missing a creepy homophobic insult uttered right in front of her because tots were suddenly her best friend, they don't exist. *nods firmly*

And thank you, hopefully it'll turn out as adorably as it is in my head :)
