bellatemple prompted me with Sam'n'Dean as early 20th century noir detectives!. Bellatemple, I'm afraid no nice fitting pants made it into the picture though (only because they're wearing long coats and legs are cut off from the picture, not because they're not wearing any!)

I picked

apocalypsos' delightfully intriguing AU Deep breaths (Mary/Ellen, R) where Mary's raising the boys, Ellen's a mysterious stranger and things aren't quite what they seem.
The author's summary:
AU. Azazel offered Mary a choice, and she did what she had to do. She looked him in the eyes when he offered to bring her dead boyfriend back to life, and she told him no. Fifteen years later, she's divorced, a single mom, and living in the sort of quaint small town she used to dream about raising her family in. Enter a strange woman with a mute little girl, a woman who cracks through Mary's barely stable facade of a normal life. Featuring five tequila shots, four threatening angels, three fatherless children (maybe), two kickass women, and a platter of peanut butter brownies.

A long time ago, I made a post asking for prompts and people indulged me quite a bit. This picture is dedicated to the lovely

cha who mentioned Sam, Dean and apocalypse, and even though this picture shamefully managed to not follow anything of the details of her prompt, but, well, at least it's apocalyptic, and it has Sam and Dean? (Also, Castiel and Anna)...(and, unsurprisingly, silhouettes).

I picked

happywriter06's wonderful story Thicker than Blood for this year's bigbang. The author's summary:
John went to Missouri to learn the truth. He ended up staying; Missouri helping to raise Sam and Dean. It's starts pre-series and then is a retelling of S1 (with some spoilers from S2 and S4) told with a heavy emphasis on Missouri.
Also, this is a quote that was inspirational: Our family never shared the same last name/But our family was a family the same/(And they say) Blood is thicker than water/Oh, but love is thicker than blood.

It's a lovely story and that much Missouri in a fic can only ever be a good thing, so go read it!
