Title: Let That Be Your Last Battlefield Rating: PG Warnings: None For the undermistletoe community, the prompt was an episode title from any season of Star Trek: TOS. I chose Let That Be Your Last Battlefield
This is so fabulous. I'm captivated by Sam's expression, but I can't get over the firelight reflected in their clothes, either. Dean's amulet is glinting, and the background is so very appropriately barren. I love that you left the big bad off screen, and instead gave us the space to imagine whatever we want there. On further reflection, maybe that's an interpretation of Sam's little-used kinetic ability, and not evil. Hmm. Still fascinating, either way.
Thank you so much, I didn't want any of the focus to be on the big bad (and um, wasn't sure who/what would be the big bad either :D), so I'm glad the off screen nature of it makes it somewhat more interesting. I'm glad you liked it, I'm always unsure of my ability to show any sort of lighting effects.
Thank you so much! And I am so glad you saw that red glint, I was wondering if it was visible, but I really loved that tiny addition. Sometimes my coloring...leaves a lot to be desired, shall I say, and so I'm really happy when something works out the way this one did.
Wow, that's amazing! Every detail of it is gorgeous, from their faces and the tension of their bodies to the burnt-out-looking trees and the color. I just want to stare at it.
Thank you so much! After I saw the prompt, I had to do this and I'm really glad you like it, it's probably one of my images that came the closest to what was in my head.
P.S: I am always so chuffed when you use this icon, I'm really happy you like it :D
Holy crap that's goregous...I'm enthralled by it. I mean the expressions are amazing. The reflections of the fire on the guys is beautiful....and I love that you leave it for the viewers interpretation...mine's that Sam's using his powers to protect Dean from hellfire and all that comes with it.
Seriously, so beautiful I wanna put it up as a wallpaper.
SERIOUSLY! You have to make more SPN art...because I bowdown to your talent!!
great lighting and color scheme! i especially love the red glow on Sam's hand, and Dean's "urghhh gritty sandy wind blowing in my face"-type facial expression.
Love the contrast between the strong red and the cold blue, also the 'push' from Sam's hand and his gaze. Love Sam's expression, and the whole composition! :)
so beautiful and heartbreaking. I just can't stop thinking of how this season is going to end - and sam protecting dean (the way dean has always protected him) - yeah, that's about right. I can see it going down like that.
NICE coloring. The glint off the amulet makes it look like real gold. You captured Sam's 2/3rds profile quite nicely. The Colt is nicely metallic-ish. The composition is balanced. And good hands. The wind motion in Sam's shirt and bangs echoes the whispy waves of the flame. It screams to be made into a wallpaper.
This is so wonderful. The composition is very nice with the boys and the background, but I think it's the fire that kind of draws everything together. You've done fabulously with a colour scheme! The bright blue of Sam's shirt is the perfect offset for the reddish background and effects, and of course, the reflective light on both boys' shirts and faces is just stunning. The only minor criticism I have is foreshortening (Sam's hand should probably be larger), which is always the worst thing ever for me. ;_; But this work is wonderful and fiery and vibrant, great job!
Thank you so much! I love getting detailed comments like this :) Yes, foreshortening, I love doing it, it seems theoretically immensely dramatic, somehow though, a lot of the time, it kind of fizzles out in execution. But I shall persever! XD I'm glad you liked this, it's an image that has come closest to being how I envisioned it in my mind with regards to the colors, poses and the mood.

Date: 2007-12-18 03:07 pm (UTC)The line drawing was excellent, of course, but seeing what you did with the color and the light... this is definitely one of your best efforts.
(And I think Dean looks much better with the gun. ;) )
