• I am watching Transformers. Megan Fox is kind of hot, Shia Leboeuf is kind of not and the cg effect of the cars/machines turning into the autobots and decepticons is kind of mesmerizing.

• I am sadly obsessed with Ke$ha's Blow and am still flummoxed by the video. No, seriously, what's going on there?

[livejournal.com profile] trekreversebang claims go up tomorrow. *flexes fingers in preparation*

• Kurt is TALLER THAN BLAINE. Blaine is SHORTER. Just because Kurt is the way he is doesn't mean he's shorter, or frailer, or weaker or whatever offensive stereotype that manages to be both homophobic and sexist at the same time. Bleh >:(

• I need a haircut.

• I wish I could draw metal well. Anyone have any tips or recommendations of art with well depicted machines/metal?

^^AGREED! Bugs me SO BAD when they make Kurt the obviously effeminate one...I mean just because he seems like the sassy gay doesn't mean he can't take care of himself. Also, I'm bugged by the fics that make Blaine the big tall butch one in the relationship...Umm, nope...you're doing it wrong.

And I see it so often. In fic and art. There was this one fic where Blaine was not only taller and stronger but he was talking to Burt about cars and Kurt was looking on starry-eyed because his boyfriend was so manly talking about stuff like cars that Kurt knew nothing about. I mean, really. Did the author even watch any episodes of the show? Ugh.

It's far more believable to have Blaine and Burt talking about football! Gah! I love me some Klaine but the fics can really be hit or miss and that's kinda sad.

I get really frustrated with that subset of fandom that always wants to exaggerate the smallness of one character and turn him into a tiny, weepy, frail almost-child (and usually exaggerate the largeness of the other guy in the pairing, turning him from an ordinary tall and muscular guy into a giant hulk with minimal verbal and emotional abilities)--and this is even worse, actually reversing the size difference. So wrong!

Frail little Daniel Jackson, dainty little Jensen Ackles...it's kind of hilarious till it becomes really irritating.

And yeah, that's even worse. In fic and in art, it bugs me so much. And not just fandom, photo shoots, album covers too. Ugh.

And it's such a matter of context! Dainty little Jensen is very close to the same height & build as huge, hulking Jim Ellison from The Sentinel. I fear seeing a lot of this height/size stuff in Hawaii Five-O, but Danny is such a butch little dude that it seems ridiculous.

Transformers is a porn movie -- Megan Fox for the long legs and tits, the USAF for the unfettered access to the toybox (there's a Spectre gunship unloading!!). The male human characters are completely incidental. Josh Duhamel seems to understand that. Shia thebeef does not.

Also, I am not sure whether you deserve thanks or blame for me sitting through that video. The bra flinging was awesome. I'm not sure how I feel about the rainbow gunfight. Either way, you are clearly doing it wrong if you're looking for meaning in a Kesha song.

Yeah, that's what I figured. It was a mindless but entertaining watch.

Hahaha, I deserve thanks of course! I'm not looking for meaning so much as...well, there's crazy and there's people with unicorn heads, you know? I did laugh at the Van Der Beek bit though.

I would suggest studying the art of Syd Mead for metal. He's a master.

Ack, I despise the notion that height is linked to 'masculinity' and if that's the majority view of Kurt/Blaine shipdom... SMH SO HARD. And Chris probably has a couple more inches left to grow, so people just need to [insert DEALWITHIT.GIF here]

I have not seen the video for "Blow" omg I'm scared but it *is* a rather brilliant song. Ain't no shame in liking it! ;)

I don't think it's the majority (I sincerely hope it's not the majority), but it's unfortunately frequent and the implications are quite offensive.

Hahaha, it's...weird and nuts and there are people with unicorn heads and James Van Der Beek in a crazy but funny cameo. The unicorn heads just throw me off as more baffling than the usual weird video XD The sad part of the obsession comes from me hitting repeat as soon as the song's over once. I've played it so many many times now.

Bleh, I hope the trend dies down. I've seen a couple of photoshoots where Darren is clearly standing on a box or something and that rubs me the wrong way as well. :[ (As a ~vertically challenged~ person myself I think his height is perfect. ♥)

LOL okay well, you had me at unicorn heads and James Van Der Beek. That is too bizarre not to check out!

Haha, fellow vertically challenged person here, I definitely don't have a problem with the shorter ones ;) But yeah, I think it was the E shoot with the really obvious insistence on keeping Chris shorter than Darren :/

Not exactly what you're looking for maybe, but this tutorial (http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/art_tut.htm) has a couple of quick comments about rendering different surfaces and the way light bounces off of them that I find helpful! Look under "Light Stuff" and "Materials". Also, it's totally not a boobie :D

eta-- borked the link slightly, should work now.

The only reason I was able to make it through the second Transformers movie (got dragged to the opening night with some theater buddies, though I hadn't seen the first one at that point) was Megan Fox's fanservice and the movement of those mega robots. I don't know how much time, effort and money went into those CGI creations, but damn if they weren't mesmerizing.

Good luck on the reversebang claims tomorrow. Or, well, today now that I look at my clock. Insomnia's a bitch.

Kurt is TALLER THAN BLAINE.

Preach. The photoshoot Darren and Chris did for whatever magazine that was a while back where every shot had Blaine taller made me incredibly frustrated. I hate the stereotype that the supposedly more "feminine" partner in a romantic relationship of any kind must be shorter. 'Tis a fallacy. Just look at Tom Cruise. Or Prince. Dude is almost as short as I am, and so far as I can tell, a lot of the notable women he's been with have been taller than him. And a woman can be more masculine than her partner. Happens all the time. And I forgot where I was going with this, which simply means I should move on and stop trying to type things up at one in the morning.

Haha, maybe if I'm bored and they're showing it on TV I'll watch the second one. I'm definitely not interested enough to go looking for it. But yes, quite mesmerizing. And I'm not just talking about Ms. Fox's body.

Ugh, yes. I hate gender stereotypes, I hate it when they're applied to women and I hate it when they're applied to men. That photoshoot would have been completely cute if that one thing hadn't been so glaringly irritating.

1) The Transformer color filters are incredible, no lie. And I agree about Megan Fox' hotness.

2) I haven't been able to stop listening to both 'Blow' and 'We R Who We R'. I don't understand where these Ke$ha earworms are coming from. :(

1) High art the movie is not, but it's definitely aesthetically pleasing on both counts.

2) Hahahah, I find pretty much all her songs incredibly catchy. I had Tik Tok on repeat back when after it first came out :D
